Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has predicted his former club will sell two key players in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are set for a busy off-season as they look to build on what has been a dire campaign for the club, which started under Erik ten Hag and will likely end under Ruben Amorim.
Following a drab Manchester derby draw with rivals City on Sunday afternoon, Amorim’s side are 13th in the Premier League table and out of every other competition apart from the Europa League.
It is expected that the club will look to do as much business as possible in the summer to help Amorim’s rebuild, but they may need to sell in order to do that to ensure they comply with profit and sustainability rules.
That has led to suggestions that some academy graduates could be on their ways out, with any sales representing pure profit on the balance sheets.
And Scholes has agreed that sales of some of the club’s best up and coming stars could be let go in just a few weeks.

United are likely to offload a number of players to help raise money for Ruben Amorim to spend

Scholes also called into question United’s recent recruitment given their ongoing struggles
‘It has to be a major concern,’ Scholes told Premier League productions. ‘Where’s the money coming from for new signings? We saw those interviews with Sir Jim and they didn’t make good reading.
‘It doesn’t look like Ruben Amorim will get a war chest to go to war with. It doesn’t feel like that.
‘I hope I’m wrong, I hope they don’t do that, but the noises I hear, it is a big concern.’
United spent more than £180million last summer on the likes of Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs De Ligt, while Patrick Dorgu arrived for £29.4million.
A number of players will likely be offloaded, but finding suitors may be the issue, with a number of big-name players struggling to perform in a red shit.
Ruben Amorim hasn’t got the ammunition at the moment to go out and score goals. He’s got Bruno who’s capable but the others aren’t goalscorers,’ Amorim added. ‘You look at the recruitment for the last few years and think, how on earth have United only got one centre forward who doesn’t score goals? It’s incredible.
‘I don’t remember there being much competition for some of the players they’ve signed. I don’t remember there being a fight for [Joshua] Zirkzee, Ugarte, Antony.
‘They’re not fighting for players who other teams want and that’s possibly a problem as well. It’s bad recruitment, terrible recruitment.’
